KS2 data is used to set the pupils into groups before arrival in September. Years 7 – 11 study Mathematics and all classes are set according to ability.
We test students ability every half, and full term and we adjust sets at the end of the year.
Some changes do take place during the year for pupils who are excelling beyond their target level/grade or requiring more support.
In Year 7 to Year 9 we study the National Curriculum for Mathematics;
In the Autumn Term, the topics covered are;
Number 1 & 2, Algebra 1 & 2, Shape, Space and Measure 1 & 2, Handling Data 1.
In the Spring Term, the topics covered are;
Number 3 & 4, Algebra 3 & 4, Shape, Space and Measure 3, Handling Data 2.
In the Summer term, the topics covered are;
Number 5, Algebra 5, Shape, Space and Measure 4 & 5, Handling Data 3
We have a test at the end of each half term and each term. We also assess at the end of each topic.
