Music and Drama House Competitions

Title: La Mare’s Got Talent

Department: Music and Drama

Year group: 7-11

This is a new style talent show competition in Nov/Dec. This is to showcase the best talent in performing at La Mare. This can be music, dance, drama or entertainment based. Any style, any skill, any talent? We have a celebrity judge lined up who will decide which house has the best performance(s). This will be the first chance to see the Ensembles too for the new look Battle of the Bands at Easter. We encourage everyone staff and students to face our judges and show what makes La Mare so special and talented!

 

Title: Battle of the Bands

Year group: 7-11

The Battle of the Bands 2017 is bigger, better and louder with finalists from each year group performing in an inter house competition. Only 1 Group from each House and Year group will go through to this event to claim the first ever prize of Battle of the Band’s House Winner. Previous winners and judges will decide who wins. Auditions in houses will be held throughout the Spring Term. A special appearance from the Thirst Battle of the Bands entry from La Mare will also be featured, in addition to last year’s winners. We hope to push as many of our younger students to perform this year as full bands so see Mr Furness for rehearsal times. PTA will be selling refreshments and merchandise.

 

Title: A Classical Soiree

A chance for our more traditional performers to showcase their examination and competition pieces. We hope to have performances from the Choir, Orchestra and previous students. Expect a more laid back and intimate venue with the best of classical, jazz and solo instrumental performers. This year we will be asking some of our instrumental staff to perform so expect a wide variety of styles, levels and repertoire. Light refreshments available from the PTA and a collection towards our instrumental upkeep at the end.
